Video summary of Friday 06/10

On Friday morning, the Victoria Eugenia theatre witnessed one of the star activities of the Passion for Knowledge festival: the huge encounter involving students and Nobel Laureates. Maria Vallet-Regí, Jean-Marie Lehn and Jack Szostak, as well as the students and teachers who attended, got to enjoy the event in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. The afternoon session featured quantum computing by Darío Gil, Vice President of IBM and Director of IBM Research; science policy by Cristina Uriarte, Basque Government Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation; and molecular machines and engines, with a talk by Nobel Prize laureate in Chemistry Jean-Pierre Sauvage. The day ended with another enjoyable session of science, scepticism and humour with the Naukas team.

Highlighted activity!

During the weekend, the Passion for Knowledge festival will be given over to children, as it will be offering three activities within Passion Txiki, devoted to kids who will be immersed in a world of discoveries and fun in Basque. On Saturday, the scientific circuit Nik ikertzen dut (I investigate) and the show Izar baten bizitza (The Life of a Star) will be held at the Victoria Eugenia theatre, and the JakinLab workshop at Tabakalera (the latter will be offered in Spanish on Sunday).

that some of the speakers in this edition are long-standing friends of the Passion for Knowledge festival? Figures such as Jocelyn Bell-Burnell, Jean-Marie Lehn, Juan Ignacio Cirac, Jean Pierre Sauvage and Maria Vallet-Regí have participated in several editions. Their personal friendship with Pedro Miguel Etxenike, Chairman of the DIPC, plus the excellent response shown by the general public to this international science festival have prompted them to take time off in their busy schedules to come to Donostia-San Sebastian and spread their passion for knowledge.
