Video summary of Thursday 05/10

Two activities featured during the morning of day 4 of Passion for Knowledge: firstly, the training session for PhD students that in every edition brings together some of the guest speakers (in this edition Jean-Marie Lehn and Jocelyn Bell-Burnell) with a number of young PhD students; and secondly, Jean-Pierre Sauvage headed to Beasain to give a lecture and participate in a discussion afterwards with the workers who were attending. The audience that once again filled the Victoria Eugenia theatre in the afternoon was able to enjoy the presentations by Joaquín Gorrochategui, the linguist who studied the Irulegi hand, and Jack Szostak, Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 2009, who spoke about ageing and artificial life. Then Jocelyn Bell-Burnell and Pedro Miguel Etxenike gave a fascinating interview on stage, and the day ended with a session by Naukas Passion, the format of short talks combining science, scepticism and humour.

Highlighted activity!

This morning the encounter with students will take place at the Victoria Eugenia theatre, one of the core activities of the Passion for Knowledge festival. In this session, the scientists María Vallet-Regí, Jean-Marie Lehn and Jack Szostak will be talking to young people in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. On Tuesday an encounter with students took place in Bilbao with the participation of Donna Strickland and George Smoot.

as part of the Passion for Knowledge festival, a special session was held yesterday at the headquarters of CAF (Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles), patron of the DIPC from the very beginning? Jean-Pierre Sauvage, 2016 Nobel Laureate in Chemistry for his contributions to the design and synthesis of molecular machines, gave a lecture followed by an open discussion with the company's employees.
