Bertso Passion

Basque extempore verse singing (known locally as bertsolarismo) has flourished over the centuries, captivating hearts and minds with its passion, ingenuity and ability to create poems in an instant while tunning into diverse social issues and concerns. As a result, bertsolarismo has become one of the Basque Country’s most unique and celebrated cultural activities.

In this new edition of Passion for Knowledge festival, we bring together some of the very best verse singers to delight your senses. The session at the Victoria Eugenia Theatre, which is open to everyone, will offer a new opportunity to admire this particular branch of improvised poetry and to enjoy the verbal sharpness of these truly masters of the verse.
